Dans un village du Kéran au Togo, se déroule l’Itchombi, rituel de circoncision réunissant l’ensemble de l’ethnie des Solla. L’Itchombi désigne à la fois les couteaux, les jeunes hommes et le rituel.
Déou et sa famille se préparent à cette cérémonie en voulant respecter scrupuleusement les traditions. Toutefois, cette année, ils veulent que des mesures sanitaires soient prises pour éviter une contamination éventuelle de MST ou du VIH. Ce débat vient traverser toute la communauté en ébullition pour la fête.

Itchombi, a circumcision ritual for which all members of the Solla people have gathered, is taking place in a village of the Keran region in Togo. Itchombi is the word referring altogether to the knives, the young men and the ritual itself. This year, Deou and his next of kin are preparing for the ceremony, dutifully abiding with tradition. However, for this time they have requested appropriate hygiene conditions, in order to avoid any risk of STD or HIV infection. The whole community, already in effervescence because of the celebration, excitedly debates about this topic.
